Though Allah blessed Muslims with many provisions, there are times riven by hardships, calamities, and adversities.
In those dark times, Islam taught us to turn our face to Allah and recite dua because it’s our way to feel a closeness to Allah, supplicate to him, and ask his assistance to guide us towards peace and keep us away from distress and panic.
In this article, we selected the top 8 duas to say when feeling distressed or fearful of the future. All of them are in English with the authentic Arabic version.
God Almighty Created Us in The World and Granted Us multiple Blessings and Sustenance.
Notwithstanding the World Isn’t a Paradise, There are Diseases and Tribulations that measure our grit and faith. Every Hardship We Face Is a test from The Lord of The Worlds to Know Who Will Thank Him and Will Be Rewarded for It or Who Disbelieve and Deny Him.
God Almighty tests the Muslim according to the degree of his faith to alleviate his sins, purify him, raise his grades, and increase his good deeds. Many verses in the Quran and the honorable Sunnah urge us to say a prayer and read the Qur’an for relief from distress and affliction.
Below are examples from Quran about trials and tribulations
You ˹believers˺ will surely be tested in your wealth and yourselves, and you will certainly hear many hurtful words from those who were given the Scripture before you and ˹from˺ the polytheists. But if you are patient and mindful ˹of Allah˺—surely this is a resolve to aspire to. ( surah al Imran, 186).
And it is He who has made you successors upon the earth and has raised some of you above others in degrees [of rank] that He may try you through what He has given you. Indeed, your Lord is swift in penalty; but indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful. (surah-al-Anam, 165)
when you suffer from distress and adversity, you must quickly resort to God Almighty in his greatest name and pray to him to relieve your pain, as supplication is the believer’s weapon at all times. It’s the origin of all worships.
Below we collected eight duas in Arabic and English
There is no god but God, the Wise, the Generous, glory and praise to Allah, Lord of the creatures, I ask you for the causes of your mercy and the resolves of your forgiveness, and the success in every righteousness deed, and rescue from every wickedness. O. Allah, do not leave sin except if you relieve it, and there is no sadness except that you removed it; you’re the Most Merciful of the merciful.

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the burden of affliction and being overtaken by destruction, and misfortunes and the malicious joy of the enemies.
O Allah, you are the one who makes hardhship easy, softens the iron O, and abides by your promises. O You, every day in a new matter, take me out of narrowness to the most comprehensive path.
By you, I repel what I cannot bear, and there is no power or strength except with God, the Highest, the Great, Lord, accept my supplication. Accept my question, do not leave me with my grief, do not leave me to my strength and strength, and have mercy on my incapacity, for my heart is distressed.
I hope for your mercy. Don’t leave me to myself, even for a blink of an eye. Correct all of my affairs for me. There is no god but you.

O Allah, I am Your slave, and the son of Your male slave, and the son of your female slave. My forehead is in Your Hand (i.e. you have control over me). Your Judgment upon me is assured,
and Your Decree concerning me is just.
I ask You by every Name that You have named Yourself with, revealed in Your Book, taught any one of Your creation, or kept unto Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen that is with You, to make the Qur’an the spring of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my distress.
It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin Abi Awfa Al-Aslami said:
“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came out to us and said: ‘Whoever has some need from Allah or from any of His creation, let him perform ablution and pray two Rak’ah, then let him say:
(None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, the Forbearing, the Most Generous. Glory is to Allah, the Lord of the Mighty Throne. Praise is to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. O Allah, I ask You for the means of Your mercy and forgiveness, the benefit of every good deed, and safety from all sins. I ask You not to leave any sin of mine but You forgive it, or any distress but You relieve it, or any need pleasing to You but You meet it). Then he should ask Allah for whatever he wants”.
