Ramadan rules show what you should or shouldn’t do during this month. Muslims worldwide await Ramadan each year to become nearer to Allah and feed their spiritual part.
In its deep essence, Fasting is a spiritual activity all Muslims perform during this month. It means abstaining from any bodily indulgences like food and sex from sunrise to sunset to feel piety and closeness to Allah.
To guarantee that their deeds are accepted, Muslims should follow some rules that will be shed light on in this article. Just keep reading.
In Ramadan, we should keep fasting right from sunrise to sunset. Practicing all of those acts during the day of Ramadan invalidates fasting.
Sowalling any kind of food and drink through the mouth.
In Quran, Allah SWT said:
You may˺ eat and drink until you see the light of dawn breaking the darkness of night, then complete the fast until nightfall (Al-Baqarah: 187)
Muslim scientists hold that nose drops invalidate fasting if it has passed through the nose into the throat. so, Muslims should be careful and, in the best scenarios, delay the drop nose to the night.
Injecting needles into the veins or arteries for treatment or anesthetization is allowed since the liquids aren’t absorbed by the throat. But enemas (injecting needles through the rectum) invalidate fasting and require atonement (كفّارة).
Muslim women are licensed to have breakfast in Ramadan during Menstruation and Postpartum Bleeding. During those days, they lose an amount of blood and become feeble, so breakfast until those days wear on and compensate for those days later.
It was narrated from Muadhah Al-Adawiyyah that a woman asked ‘Aishah: “Should a menstruating woman make up the prayers when she becomes pure?” she said: “Are you Haruri? We used to menstruate at the time of the Messenger of Allah, then we would become pure. He told us to make up the fast, but he did not tell us to make up the prayers.”
Masturbation is a sin in either Ramadan or any month, and it’s among the deeds that invalidate fasting, and it requires fasting a day for atoning for this act.
Sex is forbidden on the day of Ramadan But permissible at night as Allah SWT said in Quran: Permitted to you, on the night of the fasts, is the approach to your wives” (Albaqra, 187).
Refraining from those deeds is among Ramadan rules that any Muslims should do.
Allah ordinated Ramadan fasting on all people except those sick or traveling who can’t incur the hardship of fasting. Allah (SWT) said:
even in those exceptions, fasting is a better choice, but people are licensed to breakfast.
1. Breakfasting without any religious excuse is a major sin in Islam
2. if you’re ill, consult a doctor or a specialist about the necessity of breakfasting. Is there any harm or hazard if I decide to fast? Does Hydration pose a threat to the blood flow? If he said yes, you could break your fasting (even If you felt severe symptoms during Ramadan), you can break your fasting and compensate for those days later.
3. Muslim scholars measured travel distance to be more than 81 K (to be licensed to breakfast).
4. Menstruation and Postpartum Bleeding are excuses for women to breakfast.
5. If you aren’t fasting for any excuse, it’s the norm not to drink, eat or even smoke! Publicly. Even if you are allowed to break your fasting, this act isn’t musthab and reflects a bad image. (you can drink and eat secretly or privately at home.
Here are Ramadan eating rules as prophet Mohammed taught us.
Sahour is a meal eaten before Fajar. It nourishes Muslims with the nutritional ingredients necessary for their bodies that fuel them during the day and provide them with energy to resume their activities without suffering severe dehydration or dizziness.
Also, it’s a sunna Prophet Mohamed set.
Anas reported God’s messenger as saying, “Take a meal a little before dawn, for there is a blessing in taking a meal at that time.”
It’s a sunna from the prophet Mohamed to breakfasting in Maghrib(Nowadays, Muslims breakfast before Sun prayer (immediately after listening call for prayer).
It’s narrated the Prophet (ﷺ) said: my nation is still alright as long as they hasten to breakfast and postpones suhoor.
Among Ramadan rules for eating is to eat dates before anything.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to break his Saum (fasting) before performing Maghrib prayer with three fresh dates; if there were no fresh date- fruits, he would eat three dry dates; and if there were no dry date- fruits; he would take three draughts of water. (Source: At- Tirmidhi)
The Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) used to say when he broke his fast: O Allah, for Thee I have fasted, and with Thy provision, I have broken my fast. (source: Sunan Abi Dawud)
Also, it’s narrated that he said: O Allah, I ask You by Your mercy, which encompasses all things, that You forgive me. (source: Ibn Majah).
Ramadan rules for the wedding (Marriage) are important for Muslims to understand. According to Islamic teachings, a wedding in this month is allowed.
The person who is getting married will have to stop eating and drinking anything from dusk (fajar) until sunset (Maghrib). Between this, the Muslims shouldn’t have sexual intercourse. Kissing is allowed, but nothing more than this is permissible.
Though Pregnant women are licensed to have breakfast during Ramadan, many Muslim women prefer to fast. Pregnant women should increase their uptake of proteins and calories that fuel their bodies with energy.
So they should consume food like meat, chicken, eggs, and vegetables. since not having a sufficient diet during pregnancy might negatively impact the newborn’s weight.
Pregnant women should break their fasting when they feel such symptoms: Cold extremities, nausea, inability to do any effort, or ache in the back and abdomen, which may lead to miscarriage or premature birth.
Parents can teach kids how to fast and allow them to fast for specific hours as training and a test for their power. But they shouldn’t force them to do so as it’s not mandatory.
children often love to imitate their parents, and they might insist on fasting all the month so that You can teach them Ramadan rules, following simple steps.
2. Encourage him/her to share a Suahur meal with you each day (even if he isn’t fasting)
3. Stimulate him to fast gradually in exchange for a small gift. For the first week, he can fast till Noon. In the second week, upgrade this period to the afternoon, and follow up with him until he can fast from dusk to the Maghreb.
4. If you felt that he’s tired or see him eating secretly, pretend you don’t see him and never force him to fast since that act can backfire and leave a negative, undeniable effect in his memory.
5. Don’t allow your son to fast in the hot, unbearable days since it can make him/her hydrated.
