Reciting Quran in Tajweed is what Allah Glory be to Him has asked recommended in the Quran saying “وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْآنَ تَرْتِيلً” meaning “recite the Qur’an with measured recitation” or in other words “recite the Quran as it ought to be recited”.
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has taught his companions this measured way they should recite the Quran and some of them became very famous Quran teachers and scholars, too. Eight of the companions represent the source of the Quran narration chains to the messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and they are “Omar Bin Al Khattab, Othman Bin Affan, Ali Bin Abi Taleb, Obay Bin Ka’b, Abdulla Bin Mas’ud, Zaid Bin Thabet, Abu Musa Al Ash’ary, and Abu Addarda.”
Those eight blessed companions are the Quran teachers of the world after the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), and they taught a lot of people from the second generation and this second generation taught another generation until now. So, the proper Quran teaching is to find someone who has the chain of narration certificate (Ijaza) that reaches the Prophet (ﷺ) to make sure that you are on the right hands.
We have the honor to have our teachers as a precious asset because all of them have a certificate from another certified teacher to the Prophet (ﷺ). So, this means you may be an accredited teacher too. If you have finished the Quran and learned the Tajweed (Advanced level), you can get the certificate termed “Ijaza”.
Back to Tajweed, the word that means an improvement to the recitation, it is significant to understand that being a fluent reciter of the Quran depends on:
Finally, when the student is confidently reciting Quran, we can start any further level and we have a variety of courses either in Islamic studies or Quran Studies.
