Tabarak Allah Meaning, Usage, Significance in Islam

Tabarak Allah means Exalted is He, and God is magnified and sanctified, His attributes are perfect, and His bounties and benevolence are infinite. God is the Mighty and Sublime

And this is attribute restricted to Allah, the mighty and sublime as he said in his sacred book:

“They said, “Are you amazed at the decree of Allah? May the mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, people of the house. Indeed, He is Praiseworthy and Honorable.” (Hud, 73)

Tabarak Allah Meaning in Islam

Tbarakallahallah is a word = that indicates the perfection of God and His transcendence over defects and shortcomings. And it is a specific attribute of God Almighty and not assigned to other creatures.

God blessed means that all abundance comes from Allah, as he is the one who gives people provisions and sustenance and sends rain from the sky to revive the earth after its drought.

And there are two types of blessing:

1- An absolute blessing: is the total abundance of goodness. So, it’s said, Tabarak Allah.

This is an attribute specific to God Almighty and not added to anything else.

2- A restricted blessing: added to the creatures, so it is said: so, and so is blessed. That means that so is good and beneficial, and it is also attributed to God as well because no one can give blessing but Him.. as Jesus said:

“And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive” Mariam, 31.

Tabarakallah Response

When Someone Says tabarakallah to you as a compliment for your look or someone you have, you can reply, with those beautiful words that reflect how much you’re thankful for his gentle flattering.

  • Gazakallah khairn: which means, I wish that Allah will reward you with good

The Prophet (ﷺ), upon receiving news which pleased him or which caused pleasure, would prostrate in gratitude to Allah blessed and exalted

Why Say Tabarkallah

Tabarkallah Is said every time as it’s a reminder of Allah’s goodness and abundance.

But, there are special situations when you should say this phrase.

Prevent the Evil Eyes – Yekhze El Ein

It is better if a person fears that his eye may harm someone out of envy to say: (Blessed be God upon you) because the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family said to the man whose eye envied his brother: Did you say Allah blessed him.

And in the Islamic books, there are contexts that indicate that Muslims should when they feel some admiration for something like wealth say, Barak Allah, mashallah to, so he isn’t harmed.

If you see something from your brother, yourself, or wealth that you find impressing, then invoke blessings for it, for the evil eye is indeed true.

An Expression of Compliment when Seeing Something Beautiful

Tabarakallah is an expression of compliment when seeing something beautiful. It comes from the Arabic word “baraka” which means ‘blessed’.

And saying this phrase is a way to convey our praising of Allah for every blessing he granted us. Also, it solidifies our faith in Allah, the creator of everything, and purifies our souls from astonishment and vanity.

  • And they are usually in the context of Allah’s counting his multiple blessings over humans. Here they’re.
  • He created the sun, the moon, and the stars—all subjected to His command. The creation and the command belong to Him ˹alone˺. Blessed is Allah—Lord of all worlds!
  • Blessed is the One Who sent down the Standard1 to His servant,2 so that he may be a warner to the whole world. ( Al Farqan, 1)
  • Blessed is the One Who—if He wills—can give you far better than ˹all˺ that gardens under which rivers flow, and palaces as well. (( Al Farqan, 10)
  • Blessed is the One Who has placed constellations in the sky, as well as a ˹radiant˺ lamp1 and a luminous moon. (( Al Farqan, 61)
  • And blessed is He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them and with who is knowledge of the Hour and to whom you will be returned. (Al Zakhraf 85)
  • Blessed is the One in Whose Hands rests all authority. And He is Most Capable of everything. ( Al Mulk, 1)
  • Then fashioned We the drop a clot, then fashioned We the clot a little lump, then fashioned We the little lump bones, then clothed the bones with flesh, and then produced it as another creation. So blessed be Allah, the Best of creators!  (Surah Al-Mu’minun, 14).
  • It is Allah Who made the earth a place of settlement for you and the sky a canopy. He shaped you ˹in the womb˺, perfecting your form. And He has provided you with what is good and lawful. That is Allah—your Lord. So Blessed is Allah, Lord of all worlds. (Surah Ghafer, 64)
  • Blessed is the name of your Lord, Owner of Majesty and Honor. ((Surah Rhaman, 78)

When to Say Mashallah Tabarakallah?

People Say Those Words Spontaneously as A Compliment when Seeing Something Beautiful, Extraordinary,

And there is no difference between them when they’re said in the context of paise or declaring admiration.

In fact, In Islam, those expressions are rewarding and they’re Quranic, so using them to praise something your addresses have, is beautiful and make the conversation less confusing and more emotional, without people thinking that you envy their blessings.
